Generate a Group-Stage Schedule

Generate intra-group games for teams assigned to group-stage phase groups.

2 min read

Use the group-stage generator when teams are split into groups and should only play teams in the same group.

Before you generate

  • Select a Group stage working phase in the scheduling hub.
  • Open Manage Groups if groups or team assignments are missing.
  • Confirm each group that should generate games has at least two teams.
  • Confirm the venue, date range, weekdays, first game time, games per date, duration, interval, and visibility.

If the Group stage method is missing, open Manage schedule phases and check that the phase type is Group stage.

Use Manage Groups to create groups, rename groups, assign unassigned teams, move teams between groups, and check whether each group is ready.

The grouping board shows:

  • Groups: how many phase groups exist.
  • Assigned: how many teams are already inside a group.
  • Unassigned: teams that are not part of any group yet.
  • Ready: groups with at least two teams.

A group marked Needs 2+ does not have enough teams to generate games. Add another team or leave it out if that group should not produce fixtures yet.

Use Manage Schedule after the groups are correct. The generator uses the groups from Manage Groups.

The generator creates games only within each group. Groups with fewer than two teams are skipped and shown in the preview summary.

After previewing

Review Preview games, included groups, skipped groups, warnings, and the preview table before creating games. Use Swap slot when two preview games need to exchange schedule slots.

Keep generated games as Draft until the schedule has been reviewed.
